WA Grant Stories

This page includes videos that educators and advocates can use to promote Washington College Grant (WA Grant) and WA Grant for Apprenticeship:

  • Longer-form (2 minutes) documentary-style videos: Ideal for sharing at events or in one-on-one conversations, these videos use a storytelling style to share relatable narratives about the journey from financial aid to success in the real world for four real-life Washingtonians.
  • Shorter-form (30 seconds) promotional videos: Designed for social media, email blasts, or as quick attention-grabbers, these videos highlight the positive impacts of financial aid on four real recipients of Washington state financial aid.

Longer videos (~2 minutes, documentary style)

Share one or more of these motivational stories at your financial aid event. Or use as a tool in one-on-one conversations with students who may see themselves in our WA Grant storytellers.


Korey S: High school was tough, and Korey barely made it through. Now he’s a proud dad and education leader. Financial aid helped get him there.


Cierra L: Cierra was a military veteran struggling to make ends meet. Now WA Grant for Apprenticeship is giving her the support she needs to become an electrician.


Cierra DW: Growing up in group homes, Cierra didn’t think college was possible for her. Financial aid opened the door. Now she’s a social worker helping other former foster kids.


Mike C: Mike’s family immigrated to Central Washington to make a better life. Now he’s a successful small business owner who’s giving back to his community. Financial aid was a critical part of his journey.
