Council to meet in Olympia, discuss strategies to improve college access and affordability

Olympia—Affordability and college access will be front of mind as the Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) meets in Olympia on Jan. 27. The council will explore long-term strategies to increase college enrollment, improve access to basic needs resources, and make college more affordable. The council will be convening several advisory groups to address these issues.
Meeting discussions will cover the following topics:
- Governor Ferguson’s proposed 2026 operating budget.
- Washington’s financial aid landscape and remaining gaps.
- How the minimum admissions standard policy affects enrollment.
- Ways to connect more students with basic needs resources.
This meeting will take place at the WSAC offices on Jan. 27 from 9 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. Formal public comment will begin at 12:30 p.m. Hybrid options are also available. TVW will live-stream the meeting. Online registration is required to attend via Zoom.
