WSAC Supports Title IX as a Foundation to Uphold the Rights of All Students

Olympia—The Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) supports Title IX as a foundation to legally uphold the rights of all students, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. The U.S. Department of Education recently revised Title IX rules with an implementation date of August 1, 2024. 

The new rules, which are meant to ensure every student has educational opportunities free from discrimination, have been met with legal challenges at some institutions in Washington. While we continue to monitor the legal situation, WSAC affirms regulations that promote equity, protect against sex-based harassment and discrimination, promote accountability and fairness, and empower and support students and families. WSAC is committed to increasing educational opportunities and attainment for all Washingtonians.
