Council to review proposals for the upcoming 2026 legislative session
Aug. 5, 2025
Olympia—At its Aug. 12 meeting, the Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) will review proposals for the upcoming 2026 legislative session.
The council will consider two proposals. The first seeks to restore one year of funding to reinvest in Regional Partnerships, WSAC’s ongoing strategy of empowering community-led partnerships. The second proposal would guarantee the Washington College Grant (WA Grant) for former foster and unaccompanied homeless youth. This population, served by WSAC’s Passport to Careers program, faces significant barriers in accessing education and training beyond high school.
The proposals reflect the council’s priorities articulated in WSAC’s 2026 Strategic Action Plan, which was updated and approved at the May 2025 meeting.
The meeting will also include an update on WSAC's Washington Jobs Initiative (WJI). WJI is working to help Washington residents get the training they need for good jobs that can support a family. The update will discuss the initiative's progress, outcomes to date and opportunities going forward.
The meeting will take place via Zoom on Aug. 12 at 9 a.m. Registration is required.
