May 13, 2025

Olympia—At its May 20 meeting, the Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) will discuss and approve the 2026 Strategic Action Plan (SAP). The council has committed to centering equity as a pillar of the SAP. The plan includes strategies to support basic needs and increase enrollment and affordability. Together, these strategies work to increase progress toward the goal of 70 percent of Washington adults attaining a credential beyond high school.

This meeting will take place at Everett Community College on May 20 at 9 a.m. Formal public comment will begin at 2:55 p.m. A hybrid option is also available, with online registration required to attend via Zoom.

WSAC will present a summary of the 2025 legislative session, focusing on impacts to higher education. Staff will share an updated Regional Challenge Grant (RCG) investment strategy and make funding recommendations based on the 2025 reapplication process.

The meeting will include a panel of local leaders from Everett Public Schools, Everett Community College, Tulalip Tribes and Washington State University at Everett. Panelists will discuss regional strategies and efforts to improve credential completion. To conclude the meeting, experts from Everett Community College, Evergreen Goodwill of Northwest Washington and the Machinists Institute will present on adult learner pathways.
