Advisory: January 13 Council Meeting

Council to explore opportunities to increase college going and reduce learning loss in a continuing pandemic

Jan. 8, 2020

Olympia—On Wednesday, Jan. 13, the Washington Student Achievement Council will discuss opportunities to increase college readiness and college enrollment through partnerships between Washington’s colleges and K-12 school districts.

Identifying opportunities to help students enroll in postsecondary education and training is a critical first step to counteracting the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on students, families and the educational system.

The pandemic has disproportionately affected students of color and students from low-income households. Those effects will likely last far longer than the public health crisis. For example, college enrollment could trend downward for years after the pandemic recedes.

The public will have opportunities to comment during the meeting. Those who plan to attend should register on Zoom prior.

TVW will live stream the meeting. TVW visitors will be able to access the Jan. 13 meeting from this link.

All meeting materials will be available online on the day of the meeting.
